Atlantic Salmon Fishing

All anglers must have a valid Atlantic salmon license and tags (available at the Lodge) to fish for sea-run salmon. Fishing on the Miramichi river must be done with a fly rod only. The Atlantic salmon season runs from April 15 to October 15. Brook trout can also be caught from May 1 to September 15.

Because of the high water from run-offs, salmon spring fishing (April 15 to May 15), is traditionally done from a boat with one guide per angler. During this period, angling is not restricted to the home pools and therefore, every stretch of the river can be fished.

The salmon are now ready to run downstream back to the sea and are hungry to take your fly.

In the summer and fall, all angling guests are restricted to our home waters. We own or have the rights to approximately one half mile of private water where each medium sized pool has a natural small stone bottom that even the timid can wade.

This is the time when the salmon returns from the sea with the largest runs in July and September. During the summer/fall season, we provide one guide per three anglers.

Atlantic Salmon fishing on the Miramichi is unequaled anywhere in our continent. Read what some of our guests had to say about their stay at Island View Lodge:

"Too many large bright salmon to catch and so little time. You tell yourself: Stop Dreaming!"
John Timofai, Cape May, NJ

"Luther, Madeline and their experienced guides ensure your stay will be an unforgettable salmon adventure."
Al Senecal, Springfield, MA

"Island View provides fantastic fishing. Luther and Madeline make you feel more like family than guests."
Jim Slade, Wilbraham, MA
